Keeping Your Home Or Business Safe
Propane fuel is economical, non-toxic and environmentally-friendly! When properly used, maintained and stored, propane tanks and appliances do not pose a threat. To keep your environment safe, here are some propane safety tips:
- Do not allow your propane tanks to run out of fuel. Contact Us when tank reads 30%
- Do not allow anyone unqualified to service your propane system or appliances
- Do not tamper with gas controls or appliances
- Any propane appliances or controls that have become wet or flooded pose a safety risk and must be serviced immediately
- Pilot lights should only be lit in well ventilated areas that are free from fumes
- Constant pilot light outages could indicate an underlying hazardous condition which should be inspected by a certified professional ASAP
How To Read A Propane Tank Gauge
Allowing a propane tank to run out of fuel is the most common safety hazard. Check your fuel tank gauge regularly. It’s located under your tank hood. The needle points to the percentage of propane left in your tank.
When your tank reaches 30%, give Gerow Propane a call. Enroll in our auto-refill program to ensure you never run out!
Steps To Follow If You Suspect A Propane Leak:
- Immediately extinguish any smoking materials or open flames
- Do not touch the propane equipment’s switches or thermostats
- Get outside and away
- Shut off the gas supply at the tank or cylinder
- Call Gerow Propane ASAP
- Stay away until the leak has been found and fixed by certified professionals
When Should it be Considered An Emergency?
When you suspect a leak or dangerous situation surrounding your propane source — not when you simply run out of gas.
